January 2016 this is all the Amazonas Recovery Project team
I am Matthias, 56 years old, German, married since 22 years to my Peruvian wife Soledad and we have three children together. Since June 2014 we are living (again) in Peru.
In 1994 I arrived first time at Puerto Maldonado, Madre de Dios, Peru. I met Soledad on July 15 and we married on August 15. Just a month later. Now we are married since 22 years and there's no end to see. Our sons Richard and Fritz were born 1995 and 1997 in Puerto Maldonado and Stefanie came into our lives in 2002. Due to the large family of Soledad we have lots of useful contacts in Madre de Dios and Lima which will be very useful for the project.
I was originally a military in West Germany and had to conclude my studies in civil engineering in order to be promoted. This is how I came into this profession. After 8 years of service I left the armed forces in 1985 and stepped into civil life doing a lot of different things. Before coming first time to Peru I spent almost 2 years in the UK in order to improve my English skills. I needed these skills to be able to study all the gold mining literature and journals which were mainly available in US-English. There was practically nothing in German. Armed with this knowledge I traveled to Peru and started my researches on the gold mining fields in Madre de Dios. Now I can deservedly say that I have more than 20 years of experience in this field.
This is how large NGO’s usually are organized
Only for the Head Office there would be a staff of at least 37 persons working and probably there would be a lot of assistants more ... together with the field teams I estimate that there would be at least 80-100 employed staff members and most of the donated funds would be spent on payrolls and office assets and not on the projects objective.
And this is how we are going to operate:
Hopefully we look soon like this:
In Madre de Dios there are several major gold mining areas:
This is where we work - there are a lot of helping hands and minds needed.
